New Train ‘Léman Express’ Connecting Geneva with Annemass
A new project, the Léman Express’ Connecting Geneva with Annemass and the Savoy Region, was initiated in 2011 and is due for completion 2017. Referred to as the CEVA rail link, it will connect the Cornavin area of Geneva and Annameasse in France. The project is being funded by the Swiss Federal Government and the Canton of Geneva at a cost of CHF1.5 bn.
The length of the new line, which will be mostly underground is 16km long – 14km of which is in Switzerland. The CEVA line project was planned 150 years ago but due to numerous disputes and delays did not break ground until 2011.
From Annemasse, the French railway system SNCF will connect to Evian les Bains, Vers, Chamonix, Annecy, Chambery, Lyon and the rest of the French network.

Bonneville station or Annecy: La Clusaz, Le Grand Bornand
