Nendaz is a part of the ‘Four Valleys,’ in the French speaking Valais region in Switzerland. Exhilarating scenery and snow capped mountains ensure sporting and leisure activities throughout the seasons.
Popular Winter and Summer
It is also the venue for the International Alphorn Festival, held each year during the summer season. Hearing the sound of 100 alphorns, playing simultaneously, energises the mind of tourists. Nendaz has its own airport nearby in Sion, which is 20 minutes drive from the resort, allowing second home owners and holiday makes to visit during weekends in the ski season. Geneva international airport is just 2 hours away. The old barns and houses of villages in the locality along with their narrow streets never cease to charm visitors. It is far cheaper to buy or live or holiday in Nendaz than in Verbier.
Nendaz is a working village with around 6,000 residents and it provides for them year round and the massive influx of visitors during the ski season, with plenty of shops, bars, restaurants and commercial facilities.
A feature of Nendaz is that it is north-facing and holds onto the snow during the season. The views over the Rhone Valley to the mountains beyond are truly mesmerising! The local ski slopes are challenging enough for all levels, plus there is the addition of the 4 Valleys ski pass for those wishing to explore the 412kms of groomed pistes – and vast off-piste areas. Take a trip to Mont Fort (3300m) and view the surrounding peaks, it is amazing!
